AETF HQ

Dear all,

We are writing to inform you about the current situation in Slovakia regarding the Corona virus COVID-19.
There have been 3 confirmed cases of the Corona virus in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Currently, the circumstances surrounding the spreading of the Corona virus in Slovakia do not require cancellation of the European Championship 2020 in Taekwon-Do ITF. The organizer communicates daily with the Ministry of Sport, Public Health Office, Office of the Main Hygiene Director in Slovakia and we await response from the Bratislava City Council.

The Public Health Office recommends complying with hygiene rules and that athletes who feel sick do not attend the event, and that groups from the European countries heavily impacted by Corona virus do not to travel to Slovakia.

It is important to remember that situation regarding the spreading of the Corona virus changes every day and no one knows how the circumstances develop by 28 April 2020. According to the statement of the Public Health Office and the Office of the Main Hygiene Director in Slovakia, if the circumstances require it, they will adopt strict measures to stop the spreading of the Corona virus and cancel the event.

The position and statement of the hotels.

The reservations and dates have been confirmed and can be cancelled by the organizer, the Public Health Office, The Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister. From the hotels' point of view, there is no reason at the moment to cancel the reservations. Deposits have been paid and on that ground they keep our booked places for the European Championship. The hotels will not return deposits in case of cancellation.

But the hotels compromised at least by agreeing not to require payment of the next part of the deposit in the amount of 50% of the price that was due on 15 March 2020. The hotels agreed to wait how the circumstances develop in Slovakia and that the next payment will be due on 10 April 2020.

However, the above relates only to the second half of the payment. Unless we receive the first part of the deposit, ie 50% of the accommodation price, by 20 March 2020 the reservation will be cancelled by the hotel.

We will keep you informed about the situation in Slovakia.

With kind regards,
Ladislav Hunady
